Visiting Mauna Kea
Mauna Kea is a stunning place to visit. This dormant volcano is the highest point on the Hawaiian Islands and is home to the world's largest astronomical observatory. This observatory houses thirteen working telescopes. You can visit the Visitor Information Center to learn the history of the mountain and purchase unique merchandise. During the day, you can hike up the mountain to enjoy the views. You can also visit Mauna Kea in the evening to enjoy some of the best star gazing opportunities in the world using portable telescopes at the Visitor Information Center. Day or night, this dormant volcano has a lot to offer.
